I Can’t Believe This!

I read that Old Navy was making their Plus Size line exclusive to online customers a couple of months ago. I researched it and at that time, all the stores in my area still provided plus sizes. When I went to Old Navy and purchased a couple of items for the Summer, I was ecstatic to find out that plus size was still available. With that said I didn’t find it necessary to write about it then. To my surprise, I find out that they are still slowly getting rid of their plus size department in NYC.

Today my husband made a visit to Old Navy. He told me that they only had sizes 14 and 18 which were only for tops!!! I became infuriated that there was a low supply of clothing in my size and decided to go on the internet to see if I could find some cute pieces. While on the internet, I clicked on a top to put it into the shopping cart and the site shut off!! and not once but about 5 times. Everytime I tried to purchase something the same thing happens again. 😦 This includes Gap and Banana Republic.

Here is where my frustration and anger comes to surface. Now, I can’t find my size in the department store and I can’t even go online to purchase what I want. I feel like being plus size is a curse and a gift. So, many designers and department stores refuse to carry it because they don’t feel we can be fashionable too but it makes absolutely no sense for a store that already has plus size to take it away and only supply it online.

I feel like skinny women have all the luck. Why shouldn’t we have the pleasure of going into a dressing room to try-on our outfits??? Why do we have to order it online and wait to see if we approve of our clothing??? I honestly feel that Old Navy doesn’t has the right to decide where I should shop. There are so many pros of going to the store and trying on the clothes instead of waiting days to get it and going through the whole process of sending it back if you don’t want it. TOTALLY SUCKS!!!

What do you think about Old Navy removing plus sizes from their deparment stores??? Do you agree or disagree???

I seriously think you should write to them.I have found that they respond. Also gather a few friends with a similar problem and do the same.
    It does not sound fair.

I came across this post totally by accident – I’m SO glad I’m not the only one who noticed this. It’s actually worse for me because I’m not American. Most years, I vacation annually in the USA. Last year, I was happy to be back in the US because believe me, being plus size in Asia is no joke. I’ve been buying online at Old Navy through an e-concierge service, but Old Navy stopped allowing that because they had an arrangement with another service. Then in June when I was in SF, I found out about the stores not stocking plus sizes anymore. I was furious, but not sure what I could do about it. You are right though, the message is highly insulting: we’ll take your money, but you’re not attractive enough to darken our doors; you’re not the image of the customer we want.

More fool them, really. I spend huge amounts in Torrid and the more fashionable labels in JC Penney. Now I will only buy discount Old Navy especially through eBay or locally, where, guess what? Old Navy overstock is sold for a couple bucks. I guess living in Asia does have its benefits. (Old Navy quality can be pretty dodgy anyway)

I say that’s life. Loose some weight, be healthy! Shop at the plus size stores. Old Navy doesn’t HAVE to carry your sizes and I see nothing wrong with them not. Old Navy doesn’t carry petite sizes. I don’t see them complaining!
